Meenambakkam bags the top honours in Dist.323O

Rotary club of Meenambakkam, created a history of sorts, by sweeping as much as 12 awards in the District 3230 Awards function, held for recognizing the performance of clubs during 05-06. Our club has been adjudged to be the “BEST CLUB” in the large club category. Kudo’s President Manjula.V.Krishnan and her team for this marvelous achievement.

The following were the awards won by our club:

• BEST CLUB AWARD in the large clubs category.
  • For overall performance.

• First Prize for Youth Service.
  • Youth Service Director : Raghavendra Rao
  • Major Projects: The National RYLA, interschool quiz competition, active Interact club activities such as grandparents day.

• First Prize for Vocational Service.
  • Vocational Service Director : Rtn. P.Sridhar
  • Major Projects: Aracanut plate making unit at Pammal and Tailoring unit at KK Nagar, creating permanent jobs to many deserving women and changing their lives. For the Sake of Honour Award and Vocational Excellence awards to highly deserving candidates.

• Fisrt Prize in Community Service –Development
  • Community Service (Development ) Director: Rtn. P.Narayanan
  • Major Projects: Renovation of Panchayat school at Mogappair, Book bank at MGR Janaki college, Life style modification Seminar and RCC at Vyasarpadi.

• First Prize for Rotary Foundation.
  • Chairman – Rotary Foundation C.R.Raju
  • Total Contribution: US $.16,000
  • Major Donor : Manjula V.Krishnan.
  • Other Donors include : Rtns.C.R.Raju, Krishnan V.Chari and SV.Meyyappan.

• Award for effective Public Relations.
  • Chairman, Public Relations: Rtn. G.Muralidharan
  • Many of our programs were covered well in the media.

• First Prize in membership development.
  • New members added during the year: 11

• First Prize in Polio Plus.
  • Chairman Polio plus : Rtn.P.Janardhan
  • Created public awareness about National Immunization Days (NID) and NID booths managed.

• Second Prize for Community Serivce- Medical.
  • Community Service (Medical ) Director: Rtn. M.Srithar
  • Major Projects: Eye camp at Kanakammal Chatram benefiting 600 people, 120 free eye surgeries, dental camp at Vysarpadi for 300 people, medical camp at Kannathur for 500 people and blood donation camp.

• Second Prize was for Green City Project.
  • Major project: Significant efforts in planting trees in many places including schools.

• Third prize for Club Service
  • Club Service Director: Rtn. R.A. Nadesan
  • Major Activities: Excellent Fellowships and extraordinary speakers, impressive attendance and innovative ideas such as pattimandrum and quiz.

• Third prize for bulletin
  • Bulletin Editor: Rtn.S.Shivkumar.
