As a part of Literacy project, our club donated 5 Computers to Vidhyodhaya School primary section on 23rd Jan 2007. The computers were handed over to the Principal by Rtn. S.Balachander, District Chairman Youth Service. The project is worth Rs.75,000/-. Credit goes to Rtn.T.Chandran for arranging the computers. The Principal and the students thanked the club for the kind gesture and expressed their confidence that the addition of these computers will help many students get themselves familiarise with the computer skills right at the primary school level.
Two days after donating computers to Vidhyodhaya School, our club donated 6 Computers along with computer furnitures worth about Rs. 1,00,000/- to Ability Foundation. These were also arranged Rtn. T.Chandran. The computers were handed over to Ms. Jayshree, Founder of Ability Foundation by Assistant Governor Rtn.C.R.Raju, in a simple function held on 25th Jan 07 at the Ability foundation. Ms.Jayshree commended the club’s noble gesture and said this will benefit about 50 to 100 hearing and speech impaired persons every three months, who will be trained in computer skill related vocation. It was a moving experience when the hearing impaired student present during the function expressed their gratitude in their sign language which was translated by the instructor of Ability Foundation. We all joined them in lifting the hands and shaking them in air, the equivalent of clapping in hearing impaired sign language.
